More than 100 cars towed from Lancaster snow emergency routes

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) — City officials tell abc27 News more than 100 cars have been towed from Lancaster’s snow emergency routes.

About 140 cars were towed Saturday as the city braced for the winter storm.

“All things considered, we had a pretty successful start to the snow emergency,” a Lancaster City spokesperson told abc27 News. “There are no parked vehicles on snow emergency routes, and our plow crews are working around the clock to ensure emergency vehicles and essential workers can travel safely.”

The spokesperson said the municipality does not receive towing fees paid directly to towing companies. However, they charge a $10 administrative fee to cover the cost of arranging towing.

During the snow emergency, residents are offered free parking at various parking lots throughout the city.

Area communities were warning residents throughout Friday and Saturday to move vehicles away from snow emergency roads or risk being towed.
