Politics LIVE: Labour civil war erupts as Nigel Farage to make announcement | Politics | News

Conservative Shadow Minister Matt Vickers said in an interview on Times Radio that “there is no growth in our economy, the only thing growing is our national debt”. Speaking ahead of the event, former West Midlands Mayor Andy Street and Scottish Peer Ruth Davidson reaffirmed the party’s commitment to controlling immigration.

Bay Street and Baroness Davidson will later talk about the need for a new approach to dealing with election challenges. They call for a broader appeal to more centrist voters. “We are a broad church, but we are the party of the right,” Mr. Vickers said.

He added: “We’re not afraid of reform, in fact we’re putting our name forward […]” and warned: “Labour should tax to death anyone who tries to do the right thing.”
