Rs 14,500 Cr for Social Security Pensions, Honorariums of ASHAs Hiked

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal on Friday presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27, announcing the allocation of Rs 14,500 Million for social security pensions and increased wages for ASHA and Anganwadi workers. Presenting the sixth budget of the second Pinarayi Vijayan-led government in the Legislative Assembly, Balagopal announced that the wages of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Anganwadi workers have been increased by Rs 1,000 per month and the salary of Anganwadi helpers has been increased by Rs 500.

He said the salaries of pre-school teachers and literacy mission motivators have been increased by Rs 1,000 per month and the daily wages of school culinary staff have been increased by Rs 25 per day.

The budget also announced Rs 3,700 crore for the Prime Minister’s Stree Suraksha Programme.
