Man jailed for rape and controlling behaviour

A man has been jailed for rape, controlling and coercive behavior.

Alexander Julien, 34, of Castleford, had denied two charges of controlling and coercive behavior and rape of a woman in Wakefield in 2022, but was found guilty following a trial at Leeds Crown Court in December.

Julien was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison at the same court last Thursday.

This includes a sentence of two years and six months to be served consecutively for separate drug offences.

Julien was banned for life from working with children and vulnerable adults and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

Det Con Adele Bossons, of Wakefield Area Security Unit, said: “I am pleased that Julien was given a lengthy sentence that reflects the seriousness of his offending.

“Victims of such crimes show tremendous courage in coming forward and I hope it provides some solace to see justice served after experiencing such a horrific ordeal.”
