Kerala Budget 2026-27: Outlay for scheme assisting women filmmakers sees an increase

One of the key allocations in the State Budget 2026-27 to the arts and culture sector is the increase in expenditure on the government scheme to provide assistance to women filmmakers for the production of feature films from ₹1.5 billion to ₹7 crore. This is part of the ₹24 crore allocated for the activities of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation. Over the past five years, more than five acclaimed films have been produced under the program, which provides women who want to become filmmakers with a much-needed gateway into the film industry.

Kerala State Chalachitra Academy is getting an allocation of ₹16 crore. ₹ 13 crore has been allocated for various activities of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy and ₹ 7.5 crore has been allocated for Kerala Lalithakala Academy. Kerala Kalamandalam gets allocation of ₹27.5 crore.
