Justin Rose maintains leads as Brooks Koepka makes cut in PGA Tour return at Farmers Insurance Open

While Justin Rose from England increased the gap to four shots with a score of 7-under-par 65 at the Farmers Insurance Open, the returning Brooks Koepka widened the gap in San Diego.

The 45-year-old, who leads Ireland’s Seamus Power team, is at 17-under after breaking his own 36-hole record in the tournament.

Rose finished the day’s round on Friday on the more challenging Southern Course with an eagle, six birdies and just one bogey.

“I feel like I’ve generally won on tough golf courses in my career, so I’d say that’s my MO,” said Rose, the 2025 Masters runner-up who led by a shot after a 62 in the opening round.

“This is a place I enjoy. It’s one of my favorite tournaments on Tour; the whole field, the whole atmosphere, the whole environment.”

Meanwhile, Koepka continued his return to the PGA Tour with a 68 in the second round, winning by three points.

Five-time major winner Koepka, who has agreed to exit his LIV Golf contract at the end of 2025, struggled to a 73 on the South Course on Thursday.

However, he found his form in the PGA Tour event he attended for the first time in four years on the Northern Route and made his eagle putt on the 17th.

“According to me [Thursday] I was excited to play, nervous and didn’t know what to expect, but I think I felt more normal today,” Koepka said.

“But yeah, I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely still nervous, but I think I’m a little bit frustrated, just trying to figure it out and test it – try to see where my game is at as well, right? I feel like I’m playing really well. It’s just been a long break.”

Xander Schauffele’s streak of consecutive cuts (the longest active cut on tour with 72) ended; Patrick Cantlay, Gary Woodland, Will Zalatoris, JJ Spaun, Max Homa and Ludvig Aberg also missed the cut.
