An explosion at a residential building in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas killed a little girl and damaged an eight-story structure and nearby houses, Fars News Agency reported on Saturday.

According to crisis management officials in the province, emergency and operation teams were dispatched immediately after the explosion and the injured were transferred to health centers, Fars reported.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear, according to Fars.

CNN reported that a US official told CNN that the explosion was not related to any US military action, while an Israeli official said Israel was not involved.

The explosion took place at a time when tensions in the region increased after US President Trump warned of a possible military action against Iran.
