I watched King Charles’s new documentary and one thing was odd | Royal | News

In an unprecedented film about the monarch’s personal fight against environmental issues, the King said he would not be deterred from championing the cause by critics or skeptics. “This was the approach that I was going to stick to, it was a course that I set, and I wasn’t going to be led,” Charles says in the movie Finding Harmony – A King’s Vision, which premieres on Amazon’s Prime Video on Friday.
Environmental issues are too important for the ruler to be bogged down by those who would disappoint him and his beliefs. And it’s quite true. This is nothing new, of course, but while watching a screening of the show in Windsor Castle’s magnificent Waterloo Room, a few things stood out to me that I hadn’t considered before.
While it didn’t surprise me to see him cracking jokes with the TV crew and looking so relaxed walking in nature and why tackling climate change is so important to him, I did realize that the King is perhaps more sensitive than we give him credit for.

His face is on our banknotes, coins and stamps, and he is such a familiar face on our televisions, phones and newspapers that it is easy to forget that although this man is our ruler, he is also a man.
Charles was “forgotten” by press reports mocking him for a TV interview in 1986 in which he said he had spoken to his factories, and these words became one of his greatest regrets.
But while the jokes and questions about mental health clearly run deep, the 90-minute documentary shows the King is unapologetic in his views on nature and the environment.
The film touches on the situation he found himself in when he criticized modern architecture for its perceived ugliness, lack of tradition, and disregard for sustainability.
Interestingly enough, this was also something that was featured in the movie; as if Charles, who had spent years fighting against modern structures, was clearly not ashamed of the interventions he had made over the years.
Aiming to cement his legacy as one of the leading climate campaigners of his generation, the film also shows the man behind the throne.
Throughout his reign, the King sought to be more open, honest and explanatory than his predecessors. And this movie is an extension of Charles showing a little more of himself to the public.

The Princess of Wales tied her hair in a braid this week (Image: PA)
Princess Catherine’s hair
I can see why the Princess of Wales was so keen to ensure the focus was on her work and not her wardrobe after her day out in Northern England on Tuesday.
While she spent the day showcasing the importance of creativity, community, and nature for your mental health, the main thing people were talking about was her hair, not how she made such a huge impact on families attending a trauma therapy center or how therapeutic outdoor experiences can provide vital mental health support.
At the end of her second visit to Wakefield Trinity Rugby Club, Catherine tied her hair up in a long braid and social media was abuzz with the future Queen’s new look.
Although I admire a beautiful outfit or stylish hair, I was a little disappointed by all the comments. It seems that no matter how hard a woman works, even in 2026 there remains a relentless focus on style over substance.

Queen Camilla wore one of the brooches (Image: PA)
royal brooches
Did you see the beautiful brooches worn by the guests at the premiere of the movie The King last week? The Queen, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duchess of Gloucester and Penny Lancaster were just some of the guests wearing glittering accessories made by the King’s Foundation’s embroidery graduates.
Camilla’s pale blue and gold brooch was shaped like an acorn and bore the joint code of the King and Queen; Sophie’s stood out prominently against her emerald green dress.
Lady Stewart’s was harder to spot as it matched her floral dress, but she wore the gold brooch with pride and her husband Sir Rod Stewart also wore a pair of bee cufflinks.

I got engaged last weekend while on a weekend away in Edinburgh (Image: Express)
Royal engagement…
January has always been my least favorite month of the year; Although the cold and dark days seemed to never end, I did not feel the January blues so sharply this year. This might have something to do with the new ring on my finger… because I got engaged last weekend while on a weekend away in Edinburgh.
Waking up at 6am for an “early morning adventure”, my boyfriend Joe took me up Calton Hill for a panoramic view of the city for sunrise, where he popped the question. It was truly a magical moment and I haven’t stopped looking at my left hand since!
When I saw the Palace communications team later in the week, I don’t think they were sure whether I was joking when they asked if Windsor Castle could be a venue…
