Top US, Israeli generals meet at Pentagon amid soaring Iran tensions

February 1 (Reuters) – Top U.S. and Israeli generals held talks at the Pentagon on Friday amid rising tensions with Iran, two U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters on Sunday.

Officials did not provide details about the closed-door meetings between Chief of Staff, US General Dan Caine, and Israeli Armed Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. The meeting was not previously reported.

The United States has increased its naval presence in the Middle East and increased its air defenses after President Donald Trump tried to pressure Iran to come to the negotiating table by repeatedly threatening it. The Iranian leadership warned on Sunday that a regional conflict could occur if the United States attacks.
