Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married at New York City’s Madison Square Garden | Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially married. The couple hosted their wedding celebration in New York on Friday, nearly three years after their first date.

The ceremony was officiated by Adam Sandler, Swift’s spokesperson said in a statement confirming the nuptials on Friday.

Swift’s brother Austin served as his man of honor, while Kelce’s brother, NFL veteran Jason Kelce, was his best man. Otherwise, the couple had no bridesmaids or groomsmen.

The wedding was held at Madison Square Garden in midtown Manhattan, and screens outside the venue displayed a congratulatory message at around 7.20pm local time: “JUST GOT MARRIED!”

Both Swift and Kelce wore Christian Dior designs by Jonathan Anderson, according to Swift’s spokesperson. Swift also wore Cartier jewelry and Christian Louboutin shoes. Louboutin also designed many of the shoes Swift wore on her worldwide Eras Tour.

There was a flurry of activity around the arena earlier this week. A number of celebrities were spotted heading to the venue in formal attire on Friday afternoon, including pop singer Ed Sheeran, model Gigi Hadid, actress and author Lena Dunham, actors Hugh Grant, Bradley Cooper and Ethan Hawke, frequent Swift producer Jack Antonoff and NFL stars Cooper Kupp and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Also seen were close members of Swift’s inner circle; among them were longtime journalist Tree Paine and her childhood best friend, Abigail Anderson Berard.

It was reported that Stevie Nicks, whom Swift cited as a mentor, was planned to perform at the celebration.

Permissions obtained from various media organizations before the wedding show that nearly 1000 guests attended. It was reported that phones were banned in the venue.

While strict security measures were taken around the arena before the wedding, many streets in the surrounding area were closed to vehicle traffic. Still, flocks of fans gathered as close to the venue as possible, braving the sweltering heat to catch a glimpse of what was described as “America’s royal wedding.”

“It’s lovely that he’s doing this here and connecting with his life in New York because it’s so special for him,” 18-year-old fan Gray O’Sullivan told the Guardian on Friday.

Even the Empire State Building was joining in the celebration: the iconic skyscraper will be illuminated in a “light blue glow” to honor the occasion.

Before the wedding, rumors had long been swirling about the exact time and place of the couple’s wedding. TMZ previously reported that the wedding would take place at the historic venue in early June and noted certain security features that could ensure the safety of the venue.

Swift and Kelce kept relatively quiet about their wedding plans in the months leading up to their wedding. When she appeared on The Graham Norton Show to support 2025’s The Life of a Showgirl, she jokingly invited the talkshow host and said she was aiming for a big invite list to avoid making tough decisions about who to cut.

The superstar couple met for the first time in 2023. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended Swift’s show at his team’s home base, Arrowhead Stadium, on July 8, 2023, but the two did not meet at the show. He talked about his frustration on the New Heights podcast he hosts with his now-retired brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.

“I was disappointed that he didn’t talk before or after his shows because he had to hide his voice for the 44 songs he sang,” he said at the time. Kelce had made Swift a friendship bracelet that fans made and traded during her historic Eras Tour.

A candid conversation with her mother in the Disney+ documentary The End of an Era revealed that Andrea Swift not only encouraged but arranged the meeting after seeing Kelce’s podcast clip go viral.

“I’m looking at the headlines and I’m surfing the Internet and I see this guy came on your show, brought a friendship bracelet and wanted to meet you,” Swift’s mother said in the documentary. “So I called my cousin Robin, my resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, and said, ‘Tell me about this guy named Travis Kelce.'”

The pop star recalled her first conversation with her mother: “You said something like, ‘You should start doing something different.'” Later in an interview with him time magazineSwift revealed that the two quietly met shortly after attending her show and began dating in public.

In September 2023, Swift would return to Arrowhead to attend one of Kelce’s games. The couple was seen leaving the stadium together in an open-top vehicle. The two would soon become regular fixtures in each other’s stadium crowds, often sitting in with each other’s parents at their shows and plays.

They would make the biggest and most public declaration of their love on February 11, 2024, when Swift joined Kelce on the field after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

Two months later, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter released The Tortured Poets Department. The album mostly touched on a couple of breakups he had before he met Kelce, and included a pair of love songs about Kelce filled with football references. “Will you marry me, kiss me, or kill me?” He sang in So High School, referencing a song viral video This resurfaced early in their dating when Kelce chose to “kiss” Swift while playing the game during a 2016 interview.

In June 2024, Kelce joined Swift onstage at Wembley Stadium for one of her Eras shows, joining dancers in a segment where they “revived” her to perform I Can Do It With a Broken Heart. This was the first time Swift had a partner join her onstage at one of her concerts. She would announce The Life of a Showgirl on Kelce’s podcast in August 2025.

Shortly after her appearance on New Heights, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement. “Your English teacher and your PE teacher are getting married,” she wrote in the caption of a photo carousel of the two posing in the middle of their flower-filled garden.

The Life of a Showgirl will feature more explicit references to her relationship with Kelce, she’ll fill songs like The Fate of Ophelia with more football references, she’ll name-drop her podcast after Wood, and she’ll imagine their future at home on Wi$h List.
