‘Integrity and ethics are pillars of legal profession’

Retired judge BA Patil of the Karnataka High Court emphasized that fairness, ethics, discipline and loyalty are essential requirements for a successful career in the legal profession.

He was speaking during HKE Society’s interaction with law students at Seth Shankarlal Lahoti (SSL) College of Law in Kalaburagi on Thursday.

Addressing a packed student hall, Mr. Patil shared insights from his extensive legal career. In an interactive session, he touched on various aspects of legal education, the functioning of the judicial system and the important role young lawyers play in ensuring justice. He encouraged his students to maintain high moral standards and professional integrity.

Mr. Patil took some time to praise the achievements of retired Supreme Court judge Shivaraj V. Patil, a distinguished alumnus and former principal of SSL Law School. He praised the latter as a role model, praising his simplicity, deep knowledge of law and deep-rooted interest in social welfare.

Welcoming the meeting, university principal Maheshwari Hiremath gave brief information about the history of the university and its contributions to legal education in the region. The session concluded with engaging questions and answers in which students sought advice on dealing with the challenges of the modern legal environment.

Faculty member Narendra Badasheshi was also present.
