Kennel Club of India secretary Sudarsan no more

CV Sudarsan, secretary and treasurer of Kennel Club of India, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Chennai. He was 77 years old.

Sudarsan was also the president of the Madras Dog Club.

He is survived by his wife, Rukmani Sudarsan; son Siddhartha Sudarsan; his daughter-in-law Vaishnavi; daughter Roopa Balaji; son-in-law BV Balaji; and grandchildren.

He was an International All-Breed Judge and was widely respected for his strong advocacy of India’s indigenous breeds, including the Rajapalayam.

According to details on the Madras Canine Club website, Madras Canine Club was established in 1976 with the late Ms. Leela Ratnam as the founding president and Mr. CV Sudarsan as the founding secretary. After Ms. Ratnam’s death, Mr. Sudarsan was elected as chairman and Ms. Shyamala Murugesan as founding treasurer, along with a group of devoted dog lovers, many of whom are still with us in one way or another.

He was also a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Sudarsan served as Editor-in-Chief of Indian Kennel Gazette, the official publication of the Kennel Club of India (KCI).
