Sri Somaskanda Murthy’s deities were shot at Simha Vahanam on the streets of Tirupati on Tuesday evening as part of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams at TTD’s Kapila Theertham temple.

As the annual festival of two important temples – Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram and Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple at Kapila Theertham – is currently going on, the temple city has donned a festive look in the last few days. In fact, the festivities in these two shrines are held simultaneously every year.

On the third day of the nine-day event, the bejeweled deities were mounted on the dazzling celestial carrier Simha Vahanam, resembling a fierce lion, and paraded through the streets of Tirupati. The eye-catching floral arrangement on the carrier attracted the attention of devotees who were overcome with spiritual ecstasy.

In the morning, the deities of Sri Somaskanda Murty were taken to Bhoota Vahanam while the deity of Kamakshi Ammavaru was taken separately to a ‘Tiruchi’.
