New book by Meghan Markle’s ‘mouthpiece’ slammed: ‘AI would disown it’ | Royal | News

The new book published by Omid Scobie is so poorly written that one reviewer claimed artificial intelligence (AI) would “reject” it. Co-written with US young adult fiction writer Robin Benway, Royal Spin tells the story of a young American woman named Lauren Morgan who leaves her press job for a job at Buckingham Palace.
The book, which will be published on Amazon on February 12, is described as follows: Telegram “nothing will surprise or impress you,” the reviewer says.
Jessa Crispin writes: “People worry that AI will absorb the entire history of human creativity and drown us in generic versions of novels, television and movies. Millions of people will lose their jobs in the process.
“Well, I’m here to tell you that Omid Scobie has solved the problem. Robots can’t trash art when humans have done the work for them.”
The author even notes that Scobie often name-drops brands in a tasteless manner.
He writes: “Instead of coming up with plot, character, or decent prose, Scobie name-drops brands. Celsius, Skims, Postmates, Old Navy, Uber, Prius, Netflix, Prada, Nordstrom, and BTS are mentioned in the first chapter.”
In a social media post to promote his book, Scobie explained that the project was a welcome break from the “crazy and chaotic years involving the royal family” and said he and Benway “really enjoyed” working on the book.
The plot revolves around the heroine Lauren Morgan, who gets involved in a love triangle. He worked as a press officer at the White House before being transferred to Buckingham Palace.
Last year, it was reported that Universal Television was also developing a series based on the book, with Omid serving as writer, co-creator and executive producer.

Part of the book’s description reads: “…..there are distractions. Oscar, the disarmingly attractive royal correspondent she must keep by her side. And the irresistibly charismatic Duke of Exeter, too much off limits.”
Royal Spin is published by Sphere, priced at £22.
