US-Iran tension: Which American military bases are within Tehran’s ballistic missile strike range – see them all | World News

Teheran: As tensions between the US and Iran continue to rise, Tehran is leaving no stone unturned to showcase its military arsenal. The country’s medium-range ballistic missiles can reach many important American military bases in the Middle East. The exact distance they can travel depends on the weight of the warhead.
Iran and the United States have a long-running dispute over military capabilities in the region. While Tehran claims its missile program is for defensive purposes, the United States sees it as a potential threat. In recent talks between countries in Oman, Washington was seen demanding Tehran limit its missile program.
Iran’s missiles have a range of up to 2,000 kilometers, covering the entire Middle East. In case of conflict, these missiles could also hit US bases, similar to the attacks on bases in Iraq in 2020.

Iran has one of the largest missile arsenals in the world, with thousands of ballistic and cruise missiles. Many of these projectiles use solid fuel, allowing for rapid deployment.
Here are Iranian missiles and their estimated ranges:
Dezful is a short-range ballistic missile with a range of approximately 1000 kilometers. It can easily reach neighboring countries, including Iraq and the Gulf countries. The missile uses solid fuel, which supports rapid launch capability.
Medium-range missiles such as Fattah-1, Haj Qasem and Kheibar Shekan reach 1,400 kilometers. These could hit Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Fattah-1 is a hypersonic missile capable of bypassing enemy missile defense systems. Haj Qasem and Kheibar Shekan are also advanced systems designed for precision attacks and were developed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
More advanced missiles, including Emad and Ghadr-1, reach ranges of approximately 1,700 kilometers; Ghadr-1 can potentially cover a distance of 1,600 to 1,950 kilometers. These missiles can target Israel and Jordan.
Emad is an upgraded version of Shahab-3 offering improved accuracy and guidance systems. Ghadr-1 uses liquid fuel and can carry a heavy warhead, making it particularly destructive. These missiles are a central part of Iran’s medium-range ballistic program.
Khorramshahr and Siccil missiles have the longest range missiles, reaching up to 2,000 kilometers. They can cover the entire Middle East and carry a warhead of up to 1,500 kilograms. Khorramshahr-4 was recently deployed and is stored in underground missile facilities; Siccil, on the other hand, is a two-stage solid-fuel missile with rapid launch capacity. Both are vital to Iran’s defense strategy and pose a threat to American and Israeli facilities.
Many US bases come within range of these missiles. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar hosts more than 10,000 American troops and serves as the headquarters of U.S. Central Command. Ain al-Assad Air Base in Iraq, which lies within the 1,000-kilometer range of its short-range missiles, was the main US facility previously targeted by Iran. Bases in Kuwait, including Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem, serve as supply hubs and are easily reached by Iran’s missiles in the Gulf.
The U.S. Naval Support Activity in Bahrain, headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet, is also 1,400 kilometers away. Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE, the center of intelligence and warplanes, can be targeted with missiles that can reach up to 2,000 kilometers. Other US facilities near Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen also fall within this range.
More than 50,000 American troops are stationed in these areas, putting them at potential risk if a conflict breaks out.
The geopolitical importance of this missile range is quite great. Iran’s missiles could directly threaten US positions, especially in energy-rich regions. While the United States has missile defense systems, the sheer number and increasing sophistication of Iran’s missiles pose a significant challenge. Tehran has repeatedly stated that US bases in the Middle East are within missile range.
