Anguished screams ring out after toddler sisters aged 3 sneaked into backyard pool and drowned while mom and grandpa were asleep

Terrifying screams rang out in a quaint Texas neighborhood after two little sisters sneaked into a backyard pool area and drowned while their mother and grandfather slept inside, according to police.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said three children, both unidentified, are believed to have crawled through the patio door to the pool of a home in Katy, about 30 minutes from Houston, around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When their grandmother returned home from the grocery store, she found the two girls in the pool. At that time, the girls’ mother and grandfather were sleeping at home.

The unnamed grandmother began screaming and tried to pull them out of the water as her unidentified daughter and her husband ran to help her.

At least two neighbors heard the noise and rushed to help. A woman who heard the screams called 911 and reported that the girls had drowned.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home, they found paramedics performing life-saving measures on the brothers, and they were quickly taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

Unfortunately, the sisters were pronounced dead at the hospital; Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on social media that evening.

“This is a devastating loss for our family and our community,” Gonzalez said. ‘Please keep everyone, including loved ones and first responders, in your thoughts and prayers.’

It’s unclear how the girls sneaked into the home’s pool area, whose exterior is surrounded by a tall wooden fence.

Investigators are trying to determine how long the little girls were in the water before they were found.

The Daily Mail contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Harris County Forensic Science Institute for comment.

In the state of Texas, homeowners with a swimming pool are required by law to have a locked fence or gate surrounding the perimeter of the area.

“If you have children, make sure you put a barrier around the pool and that the doors to the pool and the side door are locked at all times,” said Harris County Sheriff’s Office Major Ben Katrib.

Neighbors were greatly saddened to learn that the brothers could not be saved.

David Green said he was outside walking his dog when he suddenly heard a loud scream.

“They have been truly wonderful neighbors for 25 years,” Green said. HOU 11. ‘I really feel sorry for them.’

The brothers’ tragic deaths occurred just weeks after three brothers fell into a frozen pond and the other two died trying to save his life near Bonham, Texas.

Cheyenne Hangaman and her six children were staying at a friend’s house across the private pond in late January when the unthinkable happened.

He said he warned them to stay away as conditions became brutal during the weekend winter storm.

But his six-year-old son, Howard, tried to ‘slide’ on the frozen pond and fell into the water. His brothers, nine-year-old EJ and eight-year-old Kaleb, then jumped into the water to save him.

First responders and a neighbor pulled the two older children from the water, and the youngest sibling was found after an extensive search of the pond.

The three boys were elementary school students in the Bonham Independent School District, which canceled classes due to Winter Storm Fern sweeping the nation.
