JSMM objects to Munir’s participation in the Munich Security Conference

Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), a Germany-based Sindhi political organisation, strongly opposed Asim Munir’s participation in the Munich Security Conference (MSC), calling the invitation “deeply regrettable” and urging international stakeholders to take notice.

JSMM members protested outside the venue, drawing attention to human rights violations in Pakistan.

JSMM President Şafi Burfat, in his official statement addressed to the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), German government and international human rights organizations, expressed what he described as “deep shock and regret” over Munir’s presence at the high-level global forum.

Widely regarded as an important platform for dialogue and conflict resolution, the Munich Security Conference brings together world leaders, diplomats and security experts each year to address international peace and security issues.

In its statement, JSMM claimed that Pakistan’s military structure has a historical record of human rights violations and political interference.

He also accused Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies of supporting extremist elements in the region; Islamabad has consistently denied these allegations.

The group called on the organizers of the Munich Security Conference to reconsider hosting the Pakistani Chief of Defense Staff, arguing that his participation lent legitimacy to what it described as a regime accused of repression and regional destabilization. He also reiterated his demand for self-determination of Sindh.
