DNA Analysis: Why Pakistan’s Airstrike In Afghanistan Is Munir’s Biggest Blunder | World News

In a move that brought South Asia’s fragile stability to the brink, the Pakistani army, under the command of Chief of General Staff General Asim Munir, launched airstrikes on Kabul, Afghanistan, late last night. Islamabad claimed that the operation targeted Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Noor Wali Mehsud, who was allegedly responsible for the recent deadly attack on Pakistani forces in Orakzai.

However, within a few hours, TTP released a voicemail purportedly from Mehsud, denying reports of his death and declaring that he was alive.

In today’s DNA, Zee News Editor-in-Chief Rahul Sinha analyzed how the latest airstrike on Afghanistan has put Pakistan’s so-called “counter-terrorism operation” under scrutiny; This is the biggest mistake.

The Taliban government in Kabul quickly condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and warning of retaliation. In a harsh statement, the Taliban said Pakistan “will have to pay the price” for civilian casualties caused by the unprovoked attack.

The situation is particularly volatile as Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is currently visiting India and meeting External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. India reaffirmed that Afghanistan’s sovereignty and security remains a priority and announced plans to reopen its full-fledged embassy in Kabul; this signaled renewed diplomatic relations with the Taliban regime.

Domestically, the Pakistani government is facing increasing turmoil. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s administration suspended internet services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following mass protests by the radical Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) group, which tried to march towards the US Embassy due to the Gaza conflict. Violent clashes with security forces have already begun.
