Battersea Park fire LIVE: 60 firefighters rush to tackle London blaze | UK | News

LFB said: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to the building fire on Battersea Park Road in Battersea.

“The fire affected a 3-storey building with commercial properties on the ground floor and flats on the upper floor. Two flats on the second floor and part of the roof of the building burned.

“The fire has now been brought under control by fire crews but crews will remain on scene for the coming hours to fully extinguish and extinguish the fire.

“No injuries have been reported at this time. Due to smoke from the incident, people in the area have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed during the height of the fire.

“Battersea Park Road remains closed between the junctions with Queenstown Road and Havelock Terrace. “The incident is causing significant disruption to traffic and motorists are advised to avoid the area while fire crews are at the scene.

“The Brigade received the first of 17 calls regarding the fire at 1428 and Control Officers mobilized crews from Clapham, Battersea, Lambeth, Brixton and surrounding fire stations to the scene.

“The 32-metre spiral staircase from Clapham Fire Station was also used as a water tower to help extinguish the fire from above. The fire was brought under control at 1555. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
