CCTV shows men in SUV kidnapping Chris Baghsarian, 85, who police say was taken by mistake | Crime – Australia

CCTV footage has provided police with clues as they search for an 85-year-old Sydney man who investigators say was mistakenly kidnapped during a botched underworld kidnapping.
Chris Baghsarian was alone in his North Ryde home Friday morning when he was taken away and put into a dark-colored SUV.
Police have serious concerns for the grandfather, who was called to the house by neighbors who heard a commotion at around 5 a.m. and needed daily medication.

When they arrived at the home, police found signs of forced entry.
Deputy Det Andrew Marks said Baghsarian was in his bedroom when the three men entered.
“Police believe Mr. Baghsarian was not the intended target… you have the wrong person,” Marks said. More details were to be announced at noon on Monday.
New footage published by Nine News shows a dark Toyota entering Northcott Street in North Ryde before Baghsarian was abducted. A man in high-visibility clothing is seen exiting the car, followed by an accomplice.
A few minutes later, they can be seen pushing the old man onto the landing as the car approaches.
Police said a burned-out vehicle matching the description of the SUV involved was found nearby.
They did not confirm the Daily Telegraph report that a video had emerged showing Baghsarian tied up.
Marks said Baghsarian’s family, who was not involved in any criminal activity, was concerned and shocked by his abduction.
“They were quite surprised that this happened and what they want is for their father to return safely,” he said.
“Please release Mr. Baghsarian. Take him to the hospital. Get him to safety and we’ll do the rest.”
Baghsarian is believed to be a widow who has been living alone for almost four years.
