Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday (local time) thanked the United States and Germany for their support of Kiev’s air defense system during the war against Russia.
In his video message to Ukrainians after returning from the Munich Security Conference, Zelenskyy greeted the drone production line developed in cooperation with Germany. He added that Kiev expects to hold meetings with world leaders on new energy packages.
Ukrainian President said, “I returned to Kiev after two busy days at the Munich Security Conference. There were many meetings, but most importantly, new support packages for Ukraine will be introduced. The main priority is air defense missiles, protection against ballistic missiles. Therefore, in Munich, we also discussed this issue with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. We hope that the agreements will work as they should. Thanks to Germany, we have a new attack drone production line and we will continue to expand our efforts in this joint development, joint production, pan-European programs and financial instruments.”
In the video message published on X, he said, “We expect meetings and studies on new energy packages next week. This concerns both post-strike recovery and the necessary equipment.”
He also asked the public to pay attention to air raid warnings.
“We have a few cold days ahead of us and everyone has seen how the Russians took advantage of this. Please take care of yourself and heed air strike warnings. We are in constant contact with all partners and emphasized that every such threat only worsens the chances of ending the war,” Zelenskyy said. he said.
In Munich, Zelenskyy announced a joint German-Ukrainian initiative to produce unmanned aerial vehicles for the Ukrainian Army. In an X post, he said the drone line is “battle-tested and powered by AI.”
Britain also announced a new air defense package for Ukraine worth over €500 million.
This took place against the background of the trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia and the United States, which was expected to be held in Geneva on February 17-18.
