Actress Natasha Rothwell went off script and condemned ICE while speaking at the Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday.

Like the Grammys earlier this month, many celebrities used the awards show as an opportunity to condemn the men and women in uniform at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as President Donald Trump’s administration tries to enforce immigration law.

Writer and actress Natasha Rothwell, known for her roles on “The White Lotus,” “Insecure” and “Saturday Night Live,” has taken a step beyond simply wearing an anti-ICE badge.

“Hi guys! I’m going to the promo, but I just want to say ‘f— ICE,'” he said, drawing applause from the audience. He then introduced the series “Chief of War”, which won the award for Best Cast in a New Scripted Series.

“Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, Tessa Thompson and Lake Bell were among those wearing ‘ICE OUT’ pins at the Indie Spirit Awards”, pop culture News outlet Vulture reported.

The same publication noted that another celebrity used this awards ceremony as a moment of political reflection.

While accepting the Best Director award, “Train Dreams” director Clint Bentley reflected on the purpose of art in the current political climate, saying: “I’ve thought a lot, I think we all do at times, about what’s the point?”

He continued, “And yet, in a world where there are so many people trying to build walls and put people in cages and divide people, we form little communities and add good to the world. And when there are so many people trying to do the opposite, I think it’s worth doing. Who knows where it will take us, but I think it’s worth trying to make the world a little bit better with every little step we can take.”
