Indo-U.S. defence partnership continues to grow stronger: U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor

US Ambassador Sergio Gor and US Indo-Pacific Command Admiral Samuel J. Paparo visited the Indian Army’s Western Command headquarters on Monday, February 16, 2026, and held discussions with Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar on India’s strategic security dynamics in the Western Front.

Mr. Gor said the US-India defense partnership continues to strengthen. He said joint efforts of the two countries are key to a secure Indo-Pacific.

Mr. Gor said in a post on Earlier on Sunday, Admiral Paparo, while congratulating the Indian army for its restraint during Operation Sindoor, said the India-US defense partnership has unity of purpose to maintain peace through force.

Interacting with a small group of journalists in New Delhi, the top military commander said that the interests of India and the US are converging and both sides are trying to further strengthen defense and military ties, especially in the maritime field.

Admiral Paparo had maintained that the US-India defense relationship was “on a steep upward trajectory” and poised to expand further.
