New poll shows Melania is the second least popular first lady

Melania Trump was elected second least popular First Lady More recently, however, a new poll found that it was Trump’s rival Hillary Clinton who earned the honor of being the most disliked person.
According to YouGovEarlier this month, 2,255 U.S. citizens were asked to rank the 11 most recent First Ladies from “Outstanding” to “Bad.”
Thirty-six percent said Melania was “poor” 10 percent rated it “below average.” About 18 percent of those surveyed rated Melania as “exceptional,” while another 12 percent said Melania was “above average.” This left him with a -16 net approval rating.
The only First Lady ranked below Melania was Hillary Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump. According to the poll, 33 percent of people rated him as “poor” and 11 percent said he was “below average,” giving him a net score of -17.
Meanwhile, the most popular First Ladies were Jackie Kennedy, Rosalynn Carter, and Nancy Reagan, with net ratings of +56, +32, and +25, respectively.

Michelle Obama also emerged as the favorite among those surveyed; 33 percent said he was “outstanding,” while 12 percent rated him “above average,” giving him a net approval rating of +21. About 22 percent rated it as “poor.”
On average, the majority of the 11 most recent First Ladies had higher net ratings than their husbands.
Hillary Clinton was the only First Lady to have a much lower net rating than her husband, who had a net rating of -3.
Many presidents and first ladies had similar ratings, including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and John F. Kennedy (+56 vs. +61), Nancy and Ronald Reagan (+25 vs. +22), Michelle and Barack Obama (+21 vs. +15).
Melania and Donald Trump also had similar, albeit negative, ratings (-16 vs. -20).
Additionally, 48 percent of those polled believe Donald Trump is “poor,” while another 6 percent say he is “below average.” Trump received the lowest score among the 20 presidents YouGov asked respondents about. About 19 percent ranked 45 and 47 as “outstanding.”

After Trump, his predecessor Joe Biden was the least popular former president; 38 percent of those surveyed said he was “poor,” while 12 percent said he was “below average.” Only 7 percent rated Biden as “outstanding.”
The survey noted that “First Ladies’ views are often politically polarized, similar to the views of their spouses.”
