Robert De Niro Warns There’s ‘No Way’ Trump Ends 2nd Term in 2028 Without a Fight: ‘It’s Up to the People’
Robert De Niro warned MS NOW host Nicolle Wallace that he would not willingly leave President Donald Trump at the end of his second term.
“He will never leave,” De Niro tells Wallace in an exclusive “Best People” clip obtained by TheWrap. “We have to get him gone. Now he’s joking about nationalizing elections. He’s not kidding. We’ve seen enough already.”
The Academy Award winner will appear on the host’s podcast on Monday, but the exclusive video appears to question De Niro’s claim that Wallace will be gone within three years.
Trump said he did not rule out running for a third term as president, despite the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibiting that action. De Niro told Wallace that Americans should believe that he meant what he said.
“Let’s not kid ourselves,” he added. “It won’t go away. It’s up to us to get rid of it.”

Wallace explained what this assumption means for the midterms later this year. He questioned whether the results would be respected.
The “Casino” actor said Trump will try to disrupt the midterm elections, so it’s up to American citizens to ensure the election proceeds safely.
This response comes after Trump claimed earlier this month that he wanted to federalize all elections. The President told former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino in a podcast in February that Republicans needed to “take over voting” and “nationalize” it, which would give the Trump Administration more control over the voting process.
“We need to make sure, as he’s trying right now, that all polling places have people who can get there safely,” De Niro said. “That could mean citizens on the other side.”
“It’s a peaceful organization,” Wallace explained.
“It’s up to the people,” De Niro concluded.
