Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor latest: Stopping former prince from becoming king is ‘right thing to do’, minister says

Davey: Liberal Democrats will support legislation to remove Mountbatten-Windsor from line of succession
Liberal Democrats will support legislation to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the succession, party leader Sir Ed Davey said.
Speaking to the Press Association at the Scottish Liberal Democrats conference in Edinburgh, he was asked whether he would support the legislation if it were put forward in Parliament.
He said: “Yes it is. I think it would be unacceptable for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to take the throne.
“If you look at a few tragedies, it’s not as far-fetched as some people think.”
He added: “That’s why we have to take action. Obviously, we want to make sure that this action does not undermine the police investigation in any way. This is absolutely critical.”
Sir Ed continued: “You have to remember Epstein’s victims and the people who went to his island, those women and girls. They have to be at the forefront of our minds when we think about that.”

Removing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as royal crown prince was “the right thing to do”, a cabinet minister has said.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions program on Friday night, MP Luke Pollard said British values were “pointing” Mr Mountbatten-Windsor away from being “potentially a heartbeat away from the throne”.
He said it was “something that I hope will get cross-party support, but it’s true that it’s something that only happens once the police investigation has concluded.”

After Andrew Mountbatten Windsor was arrested on Thursday over allegations of misconduct in a public office, questions remain about what will happen next to his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
This follows the release of the last tranche of emails from the Epstein files by the US Department of Justice. The emails appear to show Ms Ferguson continued her friendship with the pedophile financier after Mr Epstein was convicted in 2008 of soliciting a child into prostitution.
In one email, the former duchess tells Epstein: “I am at your service. Just marry me.”
