Co-founder of popular clothing brand dies after 17-story fall

The British-born man died following a 17-storey fall at a luxury apartment in Pattaya on February 9. According to Reuters.

Thai police told Reuters that initial investigations pointed to suicide, with no signs of foul play, and CCTV footage showed no one entered her flat, where she lived alone.

Police say Griffiths is involved in two ongoing cases, including a legal dispute over a business he runs with his second wife. According to the report, documents related to these cases were found in his office.

Griffiths founded Asos in London in 2000 with Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan and Deborah Thorpe. It was originally called “As Seen on Screen” before switching to the abbreviation in 2002.

The company is worth over £6bn, with designs worn by celebrities such as Rihanna, Michelle Obama and Bella Hadid.

Griffiths left Asos in 2005 but remained a major shareholder for almost a decade, later co-founding several other ventures including online furniture store Achica, music-focused fashion retailer EBTM and ethical clothing website Adili.

“We were saddened to hear of the passing of Quentin, one of our original co-founders,” an Asos spokesperson said. Statement to BBC News. “He played a key role in the early days of Asos and we are forever grateful for his contribution. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
