Tariff chaos shows doing a deal with Trump is always a bad idea

For years we have been told by these diehards that Donald Trump is a “transactionalist.” realpolitik the types who want us to review a history of corruption, sexual assault, rampant and cognitive decline, fascism, thuggish hatred of international norms, and mismanagement. In the end, it’s all about the deal, the rest doesn’t matter.

The problem is – it always was – that Trump is far from transactional, because no deal with him is guaranteed to last longer than the meeting in which it was made.
