Woman charged after child allegedly poisoned in Logan
A case has been filed against a woman who allegedly poisoned herself and her young child south of Brisbane.
According to police, the 43-year-old woman consumed poison and gave it to a 10-year-old girl in the Yarrabilba town of Logan on March 12.
Both became ill and vomited before being taken to Logan Hospital.
The child was discharged the same day, but the woman remained in hospital until Saturday, when she was released into police custody.
Child protection officials charged him with one count of attempted murder.
Police on Sunday refused to confirm whether the child was the woman’s daughter, but said they knew each other and the alleged poisoning was being treated as a domestic violence incident.
The woman was taken into custody and was due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates’ Court on May 12.
