Telangana Prisons Department Reopens Ayurvedic Village After 6 Years

Hyderabad: The ayurvedic village, a major reform and welfare initiative of the Telangana Prisons and Corrections Department, has reopened after a gap of six years at the State Correctional Institution (SICA), Chanchalguda.

Its revitalization marks an important step in the integration of health care with correctional rehabilitation. General Director of Prisons and Prison Services Dr. Soumya Mishra inaugurated the ayurvedic village here on Monday.

Dr. Soumya Mishra underlined that the ayurvedic village is an exemplary initiative combining affordable public health services with prisoner rehabilitation. The facility will offer original ayurvedic treatments and therapies at nominal cost, make quality traditional healthcare services accessible to the public and strengthen the bond between prisons and the community.

He emphasized that the initiative has a strong rehabilitative value as the inmates will receive structured training in ayurvedic therapies and wellness services and acquire certified practical skills to enhance their employability upon release.

The center is fully operational with experienced ayurvedic doctors, qualified therapists and trained staff to ensure quality service delivery. The ministry also plans to replicate this model by setting up similar ayurvedic villages in other prisons soon.
