Iconic console and video game store GAME will close its last three independent high street stores from April. Speaking to GamesIndutry.biz in 2023, he insisted the chain would be “the last one selling physical video games” and remained committed to its core purpose.
But he also acknowledged the challenges facing the industry, adding: “We need to be realistic. We have a business to run and the expectation is that this will decrease. So we need to fill that gap.”
GAME has been slowing down for years as it faces increased competition in online markets, a shift to digital gaming and a changing retail landscape.
