T.N. Assembly election: AIADMK’s third round of poll promises offers ₹1,000 to ration cardholders during Pongal

AIADMK on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, announced its third round poll promises for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
In case of victory in the polls, the party has assured that its government will provide ₹1,000 each to ration card holders as part of the annual Pongal gift basket. According to a statement issued by party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on the occasion of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s birth anniversary, the party also said that it will give ₹10,000 solatium to every family affected by the “impact of inflation” and “tax hikes” during the current DMK regime.
Cash aid to unemployed youth
Graduates will be given unemployment benefit of ₹2,000 per month and those who have completed secondary education will be given ₹1,000, provided that both categories are registered with employment exchanges. During the period when fishing is prohibited, fishermen families will now receive ₹12,000 instead of ₹8,000.
Handloom weavers will be entitled to receive 450 units instead of the current 300 and machine looms, and 1,400 units of free electricity as opposed to 1,000 units. The loans that residents of the cities receive from cooperative institutions will be abolished.
In its first round of poll promises made on 17 January, the party had assured the public that monthly benefits for female heads of households would increase to £2,000; This promise was later also made by Prime Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin. The Main Opposition party had also proposed that bus services should be provided free of charge to men. In the second round on February 4, AIADMK said three cooking gas-free refills will be provided. Other assurances included waiver of education loans from banks, increase in old-age pension from ₹1,200 to ₹2,000 per month, and interest-free loans to women self-help groups belonging to religious minorities.
With its latest statements, the party has made 16 poll promises so far.
