Triple Zero call made after Nick Martin’s assassination released

WA Police have released one of the triple zero calls made from Kwinana Motorplex on the night former Rebels cycling boss Nick Martin was assassinated by a long-range sniper hiding in bushes more than 300 meters away.

The call reflects the confusion at the scene, with viewers unsure of what happened.

“I need an ambulance to Kwinana Motorplex… I think there’s been a shooting,” the caller says.

“We don’t know where it came from, we don’t know anything.”

The release of the audio recording comes just days after cyclist David Pye was found guilty of planning the murder and outsourcing the attack to a former soldier while he was watching drag races with the Martin family in December 2020.

WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch told the media after the verdict: “Nick Martin was surrounded by family, friends and young children; he paid the ultimate price for junior bike policies, but in the presence of families and young people – a young eight-year-old boy was injured, another person suffered shrapnel wounds – this sort of thing shouldn’t happen in Western Australia.”
