Man accused of murder, cops ID victim after body dumped

A 60-year-old Toronto man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after the body of a woman reported missing days ago was found dumped along the side of Hwy. 401 in Pickering.

Toronto Police said officers responded Wednesday to a call for a missing person in the Brimley Rd. and Omni Dr. area, just north of Ellesmere Rd., in Scarborough.

According to police, investigators deemed the circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance suspicious.
Shortly after midnight on Friday, cops located the victim’s body in the Hwy. 401 and Whites Rd. area in Pickering.
Investigators identified the victim as Yuk Kwan Chu, 67, of Toronto.
On Saturday night, police said a man associated with the victim, Zhi Kuang, has been charged with first degree murder.
A day earlier, Homicide Det.-Sgt. Phillip Campbell said the man and woman were known to one another.
“They were in a common-law relationship,” he said.
This is the city’s 20th homicide of 2025.
