Australian-British man dies after alleged assault in Thailand

A British-Australian tourist has died in Thailand after he was allegedly attacked by another traveler near a popular beach.
CCTV footage shows Alan Roger Jolliffe, 58, arguing with a 29-year-old man and a woman trying to intervene.
Mr Jolliffe suffered serious head injuries following the alleged attack on Prachanukroh Street near Patong Beach.
Local media reported that he was taken to Patong Hospital but died from his injuries later on Wednesday night.
The Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) confirmed they were providing consular assistance to the family.
A DFAT spokesman said: “We offer our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time.”
“They have requested confidentiality at this time.”
The Bangkok Post reported that a man has been charged with assault causing death.
