James Bulger’s grave is desecrated by vandals as his heartbroken mother issues urgent appeal to find them

The mother of murdered James Bulger was left heartbroken after his grave was desecrated by vandals.
Denise Fergus said the heads of angels on either side of the two-year-old’s headstone were smashed after the sickening attack on her son’s final resting place.
James was taken away from his mother in a Liverpool shopping center by two 10-year-old boys – Jon Venables and his accomplice Robert Thompson – who tortured and killed him in February 1993.
Sharing the photo showing the damage on social media, a devastated Denise wrote: ‘I felt heartbroken once again today. We received a message from a lady walking her dog in the cemetery where James is resting.
‘Unfortunately, he told us that the gravestone and its surroundings were destroyed. We rushed there to find the angels on both sides of the tombstone shattered into pieces.
‘I need to find the person who did this to my son’s resting place. I try to help as many families as I can through justice campaigns or by helping families through the charity I set up in her memory, and one disgusting bitch did this… to a baby’s grave! Really??’
The vandalism occurred at Liverpool’s Kirkdale Cemetery sometime between late morning and yesterday afternoon.
Writing on Facebook, Denise added: ‘If anyone has any information please send it via the James Bulger Memorial Trust charity page or contact Merseyside Police and let them know if you saw or heard anything.

‘I’m devastated that someone could be so cruel and hurtful to my James.’
James was with his mother at the New Strand Shopping Center in Bootle, Merseyside, when he was taken away by Thompson and Venables; This moment was captured on chilling CCTV footage.
His dismembered body was found two days later on a railway line at Walton, Liverpool, two and a half miles away.
Thompson and Venables were convicted of kidnapping and murder in November 1993, making them the youngest convicted murderers in modern British history.
They were sentenced to indefinite detention in secure units and remained in custody until June 2001, when the Parole Board recommended they be released on a life license at the age of 18.
They were both given new identities and moved to secret locations under a ‘witness protection’-like program.
Venables was later jailed in 2010 for possessing images of child pornography on his computer.
He was released on parole in 2013 but was recalled to prison in November 2017 after he again had images of child pornography on his computer.
His appeals for parole in 2023 were rejected.
