Pregnant woman injured by driver gambling behind wheel in crash | News

Dashcam footage captured the moment a driver gambling on his phone crashed into the back of a car, causing a pregnant woman to give birth prematurely.

Jack Bentley, 30, of Meadow Way, Derby, was jailed for two years and four months after admitting two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Video shared by Derbyshire Police on Wednesday (February 25) shows Bentley’s Ford Focus swerving between lanes before crashing into the back of a Nissan X Trail, which crashed into the back of another vehicle last April.

A pregnant passenger suffered a broken pelvis and was rushed to hospital where she underwent a caesarean section, giving birth prematurely and leaving her baby in intensive care.

While the driver of the Nissan and his two children were also injured, the family’s pet dog also underwent emergency surgery.
