Seth Rogen delivers emotional tribute accepting Catherine O’Hara’s final award

Catherine O’Hara’s Hollywood legacy was further cemented at the 32nd Actor Awards on Sunday night.

The late actress was posthumously awarded Best TV Comedy Actress for her final role in the second season of “The Studio.”

“The Studio” star and creator Seth Rogen appreciated O’Hara’s generosity and kindness in accepting the award on his behalf.

O’Hara died of a pulmonary embolism in January, according to her death certificate obtained by Fox News Digital; this was due to rectal cancer. He was 71 years old.

During an emotional speech, Rogen admitted that he was asked to undertake the “very sad honor” of accepting O’Hara’s award.

“I know he would be honored to receive this award from his fellow cast members, whom I know he had great respect for, he was a huge fan of all of you,” Rogen said.

He thought he felt “fortunate enough” to spend time working with him and was amazed that O’Hara “had the ability to be generous, kind and gentle, yet never underestimate her own talents and ability to contribute to the work we do.” He knew he could destroy and wanted to destroy every day we were on set.

Rogen continued: “I didn’t tell the other cast members this because I didn’t want them to get any opinions, but almost every evening before we did a shooting day on our show, he would always send me and Evan a pretty similar email: ‘Hi, I hope you’ll consider the following.’

“And then he would have a completely rewritten version of the scene he was in. And literally 100%, he not only made his character better, but he made the scene and the whole show as a whole better. And it really showed that you can be a genius and you can be kind, and one of those things doesn’t have to be at the expense of the other in any way.”

Rogen implored the audience, “If you have people in your life who don’t know or don’t work, if you have kids in your life or people who are just uncommunicative or stupid, show them O’Hara dancing to Harry Belafonte in ‘Beetlejuice,’ show them O’Hara hurting her knee in ‘Best in Show,’ limping around doing that amazing thing, and tell people while they’re laughing that that’s Catherine. O’Hara, 20 years before his death During a routine doctor’s visit, he discovered he had dextrocardia situs inversus, a rare medical condition.
