Minister inaugurates Munderi Kadavu eco-tourism project in Kannur

Minister Ramachandran Kadannappally on Monday (March 2) inaugurated the Munderi Kadavu eco-tourism project in Munderi grama panchayat, marking the beginning of development work in one of the region’s premier bird habitats.

District panchayat president Binoy Kurien presided over the event. As part of the first phase of the ecotourism initiative at Munderi Kadavu, beautification works, renovation of the existing entrance gate, landscaping, installation of directional signs, creation of basic facilities such as toilet block, bird observation tower, bird den and ticket offices have been completed.

Additionally, street trees were planted on both sides of the embankment road. A total of ₹73.50 lakh has been sanctioned for the development of the eco-tourism centre, of which ₹29 lakh has been spent on the first phase. The project is being implemented by Munderi grama panchayat through Thenmala Eco-Tourism Promotion Society, a government agency.

Edakkad block panchayat president KV Biju, Munderi grama panchayat president Raseena, other public representatives and officials were present.
