Iran war: Pentagon names first US soldiers killed in Middle East conflict

Four of the six U.S. soldiers killed in the Iran war were Army Reserve members from different states who worked in logistics and provided food and equipment to the troops.

They died when a drone struck the command center in Kuwait’s Shuaiba Port on Sunday, just a day after the United States and Israel launched military action against Iran.

Iran responded by launching missiles and drones at Israel and several Gulf Arab states that host US armed forces.

Those killed were: Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida, Sergeant 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska, Sergeant 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and Sergeant Declan Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Lowa, was posthumously promoted from specialist.

Amor, the first woman killed in combat, was from Minnesota and was transferred to the Army Reserve in 2006 after previously serving in Kuwait and Iraq in 2019.

No other names were announced.

“These men and women all bravely volunteered to defend our country, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” said Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll.

All were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, which provided food, fuel, water and ammunition, transportation equipment and supplies.

“Unfortunately, there will probably be more before it’s over. That’s just the way it is,” President Donald Trump said of the deaths.
