Complete polavaram hydroelectric project as per schedule: AP-Genco MD

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (AP-Genco) Managing Director P. Pulla Reddy directed the officials and the executing agency to ensure completion of the Polavaram Hydroelectric Power Project strictly within the stipulated timeline so that power generation can start simultaneously with the completion of the Polavaram irrigation project.

During the inspection of the project site on Wednesday, Mr. Pulla Reddy emphasized that the hydropower station should be fully ready for commissioning by the time the irrigation component becomes operational. The executing agency has directed Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) to adopt structured planning mechanisms and adhere to planned milestones scrupulously.

Emphasizing accountability and time-bound implementation, Mr. Pulla Reddy said, “There should be no delay under any circumstances. I will personally monitor the progress of the project.” He ordered the authorities to conduct daily monitoring of the works and conduct periodic high-level reviews to ensure compliance with the approved construction programme. He assured that any bottlenecks that may arise during implementation will be resolved immediately once reported to him.

AP-Genco Thermal and Hydel Directors Sujay Kumar and Ashok Kumar Reddy attended the audit; Chief Engineer (Civil) Ravindra Reddy; HPC Chief Engineer Visweswara Rao; Chief Engineers Chandrasekhar and C. Hanuma, among other senior officials.
