Madonna’s Daughter Lourdes Avoided Working With Her To Escape Privilege Perception

Washington D.C. [US] : Pop icon Madonna revealed that her daughter Lourdes “Lola” Leon was initially hesitant to collaborate with her because she didn’t want people to think she was taking advantage of her mother’s fame, according to People.

Talking to Graham Norton, Madonna started working on a song with her 29-year-old daughter that will be included in her upcoming album Confessions II.

“He approached me,” Madonna said of the collaboration. “He’s been very hesitant about working with me, not wanting to be perceived as taking advantage of my daughter’s privilege,” according to People .

The singer also praised Lourdes’ musical talents, saying, “She has a much better voice than I do.”

According to People, Madonna revealed that the idea for the collaboration came from Lourdes, who saw songwriting as a way to strengthen their relationship.

“She didn’t ask for this herself…she came to me and said, ‘Let’s write a song together. I think it will be a very healing experience,'” Madonna said. he said.

During the interview, Madonna and Norton also talked about the “weird second-hand fame” that comes with being the daughter of one of the world’s biggest pop stars. The singer said Lourdes struggled with these feelings throughout her teenage years.

“She had been struggling with these feelings for a long time, throughout her adolescence,” Madonna said. “He came to me and said, ‘Let’s write a song together, I think it would be a healing experience.’ You say what you want to say, and I’ll say exactly what I want to say.”

Madonna added that she was “very happy” that her daughter offered to write together.

The singer had previously talked about the collaboration in an interview, saying that the songwriting process helped the mother-daughter duo move forward in their relationship.

“He approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship,” Madonna said. “That was a really important moment and reinforced the idea that now was the time to make this record.”

Successful model Lourdes Leon, who works with brands such as Savage X Fenty, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Swarovski and Mugler, also continues her music career. She released her latest single, T-Shirt, in May, describing it on Instagram as a song about “a relationship in which I completely lost myself and felt haunted by lingering, unwanted spirits at every turn,” according to People.
