Rochdale shooting LIVE: Teen rushed to hospital as police swarm street | UK | News

As emergency services arrived at the scene following the shooting in Rochdale, a teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police were called to reports of a shooting on Beswick Royds Street in the Belfield area at around 3.20pm.
Manchester Police said a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with suspected life-changing injuries to his leg. Images taken from the scene show many police cars and ambulances. Armed officers were also reported to be around Reservoir Street and Albert Royds Street in the Belfield area of the borough. An air ambulance and police plane were also spotted in the area, residents told the Manchester Evening News.
Roads are closed on Belfield Road and Reservoir Street.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “An increased police presence is expected in the area as we seek to establish the full circumstances leading up to this incident.
“Anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to contact officers at the scene or call 101 quoting log 2097 of 05/03/2026.
“Further information will be provided once we are able to do so.”
Images posted on social media show armed police at the scene earlier today. Photos also show vehicle debris scattered within the cordon and a damaged black car at the scene.
Forensic teams also arrived at the scene, with firefighters present within the cordon.
It was widely reported on social media that there were many police cars, ambulances and armed police around Reservoir Street and Albert Royds Street in the Belfield district of the district.
Data from flight tracking site Flightradar24 shows a police plane circling over the area this afternoon.
