Iran had promised that it would regret the US sinking one of its warships on Thursday.

The US President responded to Iran’s threats by calling on members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, army and police to surrender their weapons, otherwise they would face the same fate as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said: “I once again call on all members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, military and police to lay down their weapons.

“You will be completely safe with total immunity, or you will be faced with an absolute guarantee of death, and I don’t want to see that.”

Mr Trump also suggested that Iran had reached out to “make a deal” to end the US military operation.

He said: “They’re calling, ‘How do we make a deal?’ they say.

“I said, ‘You’re a little late,’ and now we want to fight more than them.”

The US leader announced that his country destroyed 24 Iranian ships in three days.

“The United States military, along with its wonderful Israeli partners, continues to completely destroy the enemy, well ahead of schedule and at levels people have never seen before,” he said.

It is estimated that Mojtaba Khamenei, the second eldest son of former Supreme Leader Khamenei, will be his successor. Mr. Trump said he would choose a new leader and that Mojtaba was “unlikely.”
