David Beckham is set to be honoured in BBC’s A Life In Ten Pictures three decades after iconic halfway line goal

Thirty years after his iconic half-field goal, David Beckham will be honored on BBC Two’s A Life In Ten Pictures.
The documentary will examine his extraordinary life through a handful of photographs taken over the years.
Especially the moment that turned him into a household name in 1996.
David’s stunning 60-yard effort at Wimbledon on the opening day of the 1996-97 Premier League season went down in history.
David, then 21, declared himself a truly world-class talent when he looked up, spotted Neil Sullivan off his line and attacked him expertly to complete United’s 3-0 win at Selhurst Park.
It was probably fortunate that the goal ended up in the net because his manager Alex Ferguson said: ‘He tried it about 10 minutes before he scored and I said to my assistant Brian Kidd ‘if he tries that again he’ll be sent off’.
‘When the goal was scored Kiddo turned to me and said ‘We’ll have to take him off!’ he said.
David, 50, himself later admitted the impact of this goal in turning him into a household name: ‘It changed my life. The ball seemed to be in the air for hours and everything went quiet.
‘Then the ball went in and exploded. I was on cloud nine. ‘I wanted to shake everyone’s hand and be on the field for an hour.’

A TV employee said: Sun: ‘Becks changed our perception of masculinity, fame and football.
‘She’s a fashion trendsetter and has created a new kind of sports celebrity by marrying one of the world’s best-known pop stars.
‘And at every stage it was transformed into photographs that will be instantly remembered by millions of people.’
The program, which is reported to be broadcast later this year, will also feature people explaining the importance of each photo in David’s life.
The documentary will also cover David’s iconic haircuts over the years, his best fashion-forward moments, and his iconic moments with his wife Victoria.
The Daily Mail has contacted the BBC and David’s representatives for comment.
It comes after son Brooklyn was said to be ‘disheartened’ after his parents publicly wished him a happy birthday and broke their contact agreement.
According to reports, the aspiring chef, who turned 27 on Wednesday, criticized ‘performative posts’ containing loving messages.
David, Victoria, Cruz and Romeo offered Brooklyn a public olive branch with Instagram posts to celebrate his 27th birthday, six weeks after he made the bombshell statement that he didn’t want to reconcile with his family.
And on Thursday an insider said MEAT Brooklyn wants to end his parents’ attempts to contact him, including on social media, following a bitter falling out between them.
A source told the publication: ‘Brooklyn and Nicola are left disheartened that they chose to make public Instagram posts for her birthday.
‘These are the kinds of public actions that Brooklyn is trying in vain to put an end to. ‘Last summer they published a legal letter to their parents demanding that all correspondence be through lawyers.’
Especially the moment that turned him into a household name in 1996.
Brooklyn spent the day with wife Nicola, 31, who shared a video of her husband blowing out the candles on a box of donuts.
Pushing aside his family’s olive branch, the aspiring chef only took to Instagram during the day to thank his wife for the gushing social media post.
After her parents tried to build bridges by sharing a series of birthday celebrations, she was given another opportunity to reconnect with her estranged family.
But he wasted no time in responding to Nicola, even though he didn’t accept their throwback throwback photos, birthday messages and repeated use of his affectionate nickname, Buster.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday evening, the American actress shared a photo of herself with her husband in a room decorated with celebratory balloons in a pink-themed tribute to him.
She captioned the post: ‘Happy birthday baby… I hope all your dreams and wishes come true! You light up every room you enter and everyone who knows you loves you… you are the most special person and I love being your wife. ‘I love you, I love you, I love you.’
Responding to the birthday tribute, she wrote: ‘I love you baby.’
Nicola seemed to have a special idea for Brooklyn; the actor gifted her a box of 21 personalized frosted cupcakes; It said ‘Happy Birthday Brooklyn’.
The influencer was also treated to a mountain of gifts thoughtfully presented in Cloud 23 wrapping paper; this was a reference to the popular hot sauce brand, ironically named after his father’s jersey number with Real Madrid and the Los Angeles Galaxy.
‘Make a wish!’ The man trembles as he eats his first cake and adds: ‘I love you. I hope your wishes come true.’
Despite her bombshell announcement six weeks ago, the entire Beckham family arrived in Brooklyn on her birthday.
Hours ago, Brooklyn’s parents, David and Victoria Beckham, shared their birthday celebrations but have yet to receive any public confirmation.
Sharing childhood photos of the influencer and tagging his wife Victoria, David used his childhood nickname for his son Buster as he wrote ’27’ today. Happy birthday Bust. ‘We love you.’

Minutes later, Victoria shared the same photo and wrote: “Happy birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much.” before uploading a photo of herself laughing with her son with a series of loving hearts.
Brooklyn’s brother Romeo shared childhood memories with his brother on Wednesday afternoon, but did not include a caption.
Youngest sibling Cruz put aside his differences with his estranged sibling and shared a loving birthday message on Instagram.
Even though he was the last member of the family to reach him, Cruz managed to say “I love you” to Brooklyn alongside their childhood photos.
Brooklyn was unable to reach Cruz publicly on his milestone 21st birthday last week.
His grandparents, Ted and Hilary Beckham, also posted photos in honor of Brooklyn’s birthday and included photos of his wife, Nicola.
They wrote alongside the photos: ‘Happy birthday Brooklyn. I hope you have a wonderful day. With love from my grandfather and Hilary.’
The latest reports suggest that Brooklyn is on good terms with his grandfather Ted and his wife Hilary, despite being estranged from his parents. He was reportedly in regular contact with them.
Brooklyn, who currently lives in the United States with his wife, recently expressed his desire to get away from his family in a six-page Instagram statement full of lurid allegations.
