Two men who simultaneously raped a young woman in what the judge described as a “despicable” and “inhumane” attack have been sentenced to a total of 22 years in prison. Taylor Dove, 22, and Vieri Chapman, 25, carried out the attack after the victim rejected their offer to have a threesome.

A jury found the couple guilty of rape following a trial at Newcastle Crown Court. Dove, of Balmoral Terrace, Sunderland, was jailed for 12 years, while Chapman, also known as Jevonni Copley, of Wansbeck Road, Gosforth, Newcastle, was jailed for 10 years. Both men are required to sign the sex offender registry for life and have been given restraining orders. The court heard the victim was subjected to a humiliating attack before Dove later bragged about what happened to a friend. Dove was also convicted of raping another teenager while she slept, for which he was out on bail at the time of the attack.

Chapman, also known as Jevonni Copley, denied rape but was found guilty of rape by a jury following a trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

The court heard Dove bragged about what he had done to his victim after subjecting her to the humiliating attack.

In a statement read to the court, the victim said: “They dehumanized me that night and had no regard for how I felt. I cannot do justice to how this made me feel and how it continues to make me feel. This has had a huge impact on my personal life and relationships.”

He added that he finds it difficult to talk about what happened to him because it would “make the terrible things even more real.”

“I believe they only think of themselves,” he said. “I want them to understand what they are doing.

“They ruined what was supposed to be the most fun and carefree part of life.”

Dove was also found guilty of raping the other victim while she slept.

The victim said in a statement: “Taylor Dove destroyed my life. I only found the strength to report what she did because I was afraid she would do the same to someone else.”

“I’m currently experiencing severe anxiety and depression and having flashbacks of what he did. I feel anxious and my chest tightens as if he’s on top of me.”

“I became a shell of the person I was. If he hadn’t done that, my life would have been completely different.

“I don’t believe he thought what he did was wrong, and I don’t believe he was remorseful.”

Jamie Adams, for Dove, said he “denies his offending” and that “the people around him cared deeply about him”. Mr Adams added: “He knows he has let everyone down by committing these terrible acts.

“There’s a good person here. He’ll be weakened by this belief for the rest of his life. This isn’t just a callous person.”

Laura Miller, for Chapman, said he has autism and added: “He had a modeling contract and was working as a DJ. Because of this belief, this is not a career he can ever return to.”

punishing them Newcastle Crown CourtJudge Julie Clemitson said: “This [victim] She was raped in the most despicable way by two men at the same time.

“He was shocked by what happened to you. No wonder he couldn’t shake you off or verbally express his lack of consent.”

“If you had bothered to look at him you would have noticed he was crying.

“You, Taylor Dove, were determined to have a sexual experience with her that night, and you didn’t really care whether she consented or not. No doubt alcohol played a part in that.

“There was also a sense of entitlement that put her own desires ahead of his right to decide whether she would have sex and, if so, with whom.

“This was truly an ordeal for him that left him bleeding and miserable.”

The judge added that the victim then complained about what had happened to someone and said to Dove, “you, Taylor Dove, were bragging about your heroics to your friend.”
