Beloved Fiesta San Antonio event abruptly canceled. What we know.

long loved Fiesta San Antonio event Named after a wealthy town in the San Antonio area that draws thousands of locals to the University of the Incarnate Word every year. officially canceled stirred up sadness and gossip throughout the city. Alamo Heights Night is officially on hiatus, but many questions remain.

The Rotary Club of Alamo Heights has operated for decades since 1987. Alamo Heights Night It’s kind of like a block party. event location moved From a more traditional block party held at the city pool in 2010 to the UIW campus, where interest has grown and gone well beyond being purely “Party Time in ’09” for Alamo Heights residents. About 12,000 people were attending the party at the time, and neighbors were outraged.

Now, the event has been placed on a mysterious “pause” as community leaders remain silent. MySA reached out to the City of Alamo Heights, Fiesta San Antonio Commission, Alamo Heights Night LLC, and Alamo Heights Rotary Club but did not hear back by publication time.

The University of the Incarnate Word, where the event was held, told MySA it had no role in the decision to pause the event.

“Although Alamo Heights Night has been held here for years, it is not actually a UIW event. We are simply the venue for the Rotary Club. Therefore, we have no say in whether the event will be ‘paused’ or when it will be held again,” a UIW spokesperson said.

The Alamo Heights Night website confirmed the sudden move, saying, “The 2026 Alamo Heights Night has been paused and will not take place on April 17, 2026.”

It is unclear who made the decision to halt the progress of the event, which was originally scheduled for April 17 this year on the UIW campus. It’s also unclear whether the annual event will remain an official Fiesta San Antonio schedule event or will be rescheduled for 2026.

A lawsuit obtained by MySA was filed earlier this year naming several organizations affiliated with Alamo Heights Night, including the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, Alamo Heights Night LLC, Alamo Heights Rotary Club, University of the Incarnate Word and a man who reportedly volunteered at the event in 2024. It is unclear whether the application is related to the “pause” of the event.

The lawsuit, filed Jan. 15 on behalf of Stella Bustos and Irma Jean Garza, alleges that the two plaintiffs were seriously injured at an Alamo Heights Night event held at UIW in April 2024. The lawsuit alleges that the two plaintiffs were struck by an electric golf cart driven by event volunteer Ronald “Ronnie” Greenberg, and each suffered injuries to their heads, necks, backs and other body parts, according to the lawsuit.

On March 9, Greenberg, Alamo Heights Night LLC and the rotary club responded to the lawsuit, denying all charges. The response also states that the event LLC and the rotary club are two separate entities.
