After burst pipe, O’Connor’s in Worcester says it won’t be reopening

“It is with great sadness that we must share that O’Connor’s will not be reopening its doors due to the recent pipe burst and increased operating costs,” the post said. “We have done our best to maintain this beloved landmark through many difficult times, but recent challenges have brought us to the end of our journey.

“We offer our sincerest gratitude to our amazing guests and staff who have supported us over the years and made O’Connor’s a special place. We have shared so many wonderful memories together and are truly grateful for every visit, every meal, and every moment.”

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly sorry it has come to this, but we wish you all the best as we say goodbye.”

Brendan O’Connor, originally from Ireland, opened the restaurant in 1989. In 2022, the restaurant was sold to the Maxwell family, who were determined to preserve the name.

The restaurant, located on West Boylston Street, was closed for several days in April 2025, except for large parties and special events, citing “somewhat limited manual power.”

It reopened on May 1.
