Dubai news LIVE: ‘Explosions’ in Deira and Muraqqabat as Iran launches new missile attack | World | News

British citizens in the United Arab Emirates have been warned about the risks of sharing photos or videos linked to war-related events as tensions rise in the Middle East.

The warning came after a 60-year-old British tourist was charged in Dubai under UAE cybercrime laws over images showing missile attacks. Campaign group Detained in Dubai said he was accused of distributing material likely to harm public safety, but when asked he reportedly deleted the video and said he did not intend to cause harm.

The British Embassy in the UAE said authorities had repeatedly warned against photographing or sharing images of crime scenes, bullet damage, government buildings or diplomatic missions. Violating local laws could lead to fines, imprisonment or deportation, he added.

At least 21 people face charges linked to social media posts about recent missile attacks, according to Dubai Arrests. The British Foreign Office said it was in contact with local authorities after the British citizen was detained.
