Surrendered Maoist Leader Urges Adivasis to Fight for Implementation of Laws

Adilabad:Maoists’ Central Committee member Pulluri Prasad Rao alias Chandranna, who recently surrendered before Telangana police, on Friday urged Adivasis to fight for effective implementation of laws aimed at protecting their rights.
Chandranna attended an Adivasi meeting at Komaram Bheem Colony in Mavala in Adilabad district and addressed the meeting.
He said that through decades of struggle and sacrifice, Adivasis have obtained various legal protections in the Constitution of India. However, he alleged that provisions such as the Fifth and Sixth Schedules, the PESA Act, Regulation 1/70 and the Recognition of Forest Rights Act (ROFR) were not properly implemented.
Chandranna appealed to Adivasis to continue their struggle to ensure proper implementation of these laws and provide land patta for the lands they have been cultivating for many years.
He said Adivasi rights were protected through constant struggles from the time of Ramji Gond to Komaram Bheem and later during movements like the Indravelli agitation.
“Komaram Bheem has become the symbol of the struggle for rights. Not just Adivasis, but the entire society knows him as a legendary leader who fought for justice,” said Chandranna.
Earlier, Chandranna decorated Komaram Bheem’s statue and paid tribute. Adivasi leaders Godam Ganesh, social activist Ajay and others also addressed the meeting.
Police sources said that Chandranna’s husband Kursenga Mothubai alias Radhakka was arrested earlier and later released from jail. He currently lives in Adilabad town.
